Grotto

The Grotto is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God and is a place of prayer and contemplation. It is a quiet spot where students can take a break and enjoy the beauty around them. The Grotto commemorates the young saint, Bernadette Soubirous, kneeling before the Blessed Mother. St. Bernadette's visions occurred in Lourdes, France in 1858.

The Mother Rose Gertrude Memorial Grotto was originally dedicated in 1963. It was dedicated by the Molloy Guild, students and alumni (1959-1962) in commemoration of Mother Rose Gertrude’s work as Molloy’s first academic dean. It was recently refurbished and rededicated by the McDonnell family who would come to the Grotto as children to say the Rosary together .
